Airtec Corsa vxr intercooler, are they any good?

"Airtec Intercoolers, are they any good?" This is a question that gets asked a lot at Just Performance, but we can understand where it is coming from... The Airtec intercooler compared to the big names such as Forge Motorsport is indeed a lot cheaper.  Most of the times, cheap and quality does not come together. So, to answer this question, we have decided to carry out a few tests against different intercoolers available on the market today to give you a comparison of what are the difference in performance between the airtec, forge, universal and standard intercooler.

All of the tests were carried out on the corsa VXRs in the same driving conditions from 0-120mph power run, to ensure the results are as accurate as it can be.  See results below:

Airtec
Our data were taken on the road with our datalogger, tests were carried out in july with an outside temp of 25 degrees
Run 1 outlet peak 30 degree
Run 2 outlet peak 33 degree
Run 3 outlet peak 32 degree

Graph on run 1 (peak 30 degrees)

Forge
Our data were taken on the road with our datalogger, tests were carried out in June with a outside temp of 26 degrees
Run 1 outlet peak 31 degrees
Run 2 outlet peak 29 degrees
Run 3 outlet peak 33 degrees

Graph on run 1 (peak 31 degrees)

Universal intercooler
Our data were taken on the road with our datalogger, tests were carried out on the same date and time as the airtec.

Run 1 outlet peak 50 degrees
Run 2 outlet peak 53 degrees
Run 3 outlet peak 54 degrees

Graph on run 1 (peak 50 Degrees)

Standard intercooler

Our data were taken on the road with our datalogger, tests were carried out on the same date and time as the airtec.
Run 1 outlet peak 62 degrees
Run 2 outlet peak 59 degrees

From our data, both the airtec and forge intercooler achieved very similar results. On the other hand, the outlet temperature on the universal intercooler were very disappointing, the main reason of an uprated intercooler is to cool down the charge temp, turbo cars loves cold air, hence they are much more responsive in winters! But from our data, the universal intercooler were not really up to standard, there are plenty of cheap unversial intercoolers on the market these days, but our advice is, stay away from them..

We supply the Airtec kit at £495 and Forge kit at £726.33 include VAT and UK mainland Delivery.

For EU customers, delivery charge is £65

Due to the high demand of the corsa vxr airtec intercoolers, they don't stay on the shelf for long! We strongly advise our customers to pre order one to enable us to secure the order.

Forge corsa vxr intercooler has a lead time of about 1-2 weeks.
